I help my mentees to get technical skillsaligned with industrydemand, share their work, and build a dynamic network that help them to be discorvered by more people/companies.

Success is not purely about performance as we were told by our teachers/parents or the society as a whole.

Success is about performance and reception of performance.

  • Performance is crucial but only up to a certain point
  • Adding a 5% or 10% more doesn't really make any difference.
  • What matters is how you change the perception / reception of your success in the eyes of your audience.

Hey, I'm Farid. I'm the co-creator of IceVision: an AI Computer Vision Framework. I also built a 700+ member community around it.

I’m a SharpestMind mentor. I helped many mentees. My mentees received job offers in as fast as 2 weeks of coaching.

I help them to get there by applying the Science of Success Approach: developing both technical skills and non-technical skills, and channeling the reception of their performance.

Farid has been patiently helping guide me forward.

He saved me from going down some dark rabbit holes, from spending too long studying skills and parts of the problem that needed relatively little mastery in order to get to where I am. Farid has been a consistently enthusiastic and kind advocate for my work.

Alex Strick van Linschoten, PhD

ML Engineer

I help my mentees to find the area of their expertise and adjust it to the current industry demand. I guide them through industry-level mini-projects to their skills and knowledge to potential employers.

The success of my mentees is built on a team work and a shared vision. I help them to develop their skills, and the fill the gap to meet the industry requirements to the best of their ability. I design a system that helps them to reach their goal in the short term while keeping an eye on the her/his long term aspiration.

Using an operating system that I tailored to eah of my mentees, I managed to help my mentees to get some exciting positions in a matter of weeks. Here are the success stories of some of them:

Alex, an ML engineer, received a job offer from a German company based in Berlin, after his second week of mentorship. It happened after sharing his preliminary project results in his second tweet/post. During his mentorship, he built an impressive MVP that was described as a particularly great piece of work by Jeremy Howard , in his latest Fastai course. Alex shared his progress through blog posts, tweets, LinkedIn posts, and in different AI/MLOps forums.

Meghal, a master student, got a dream position at Qualcomm despite his lack of an industry experience. During his mentorship, he built an industry-level project to compensate for that and showcase his technical skills. He received a job offer from a startup based after one week of mentorship followed by multiple one during his mentorship.

Dickson, a PhD student, obtained multiple job offers, and decided to join ZenML. He initially had some bitter job interview experiences that smashed his confidence. Right after, we start his mentorship, he created several viral tweets when he share his ML/AI deployment mini-projects. He generated over 300,000 views in one month. He started with 30+ followers, and got over 500+ followers within 2 tweets. He regained his confidence, and he was quickly perceived as an ML Deployment Expert by his peers. He started having several job interviews after 3 weeks of mentorship.

Maria, a medical surgeon who decided to pivot to the AI world. she landed a job just a month after she completed her mentorship with me. She started as someone without any computer vision background, but she quickly learned both classification and object detection. She built an impressive end-to-end pipeline that was able to detect and classify surgical instrument images .

Since getting aquainted through his amazing open source project IceVision, I have learned numerous technical competencies through our interactions and became a core-developer of IceVision in merely 3 months after my first pull request.

However, what makes him stand out from other mentors is his ability to blend in technical and the more nuanced non-technical skills.

Farid has assisted me in crafting strategic blog posts contents that attracts readers attention. In fact, my first Tweet on a blog post garnered more than 200 likes and 50 retweets. Considering that I have only 30 followers at that point, this is a massive achievement! I have since gained a social media presence thanks to his forward-thinking strategies and precise intuition.

Farid is a mentor that genuinely cares for his mentees and puts their best interest in mind even though sometimes it comes at a cost on his side. I consider myself extremely lucky to have the opportunity to be mentored directly by Farid.
